Our bricklayers, L&S Brickworks North East Ltd, have made great progress with the facing brickwork. All brickwork is now completed to head height. Scaffolding has been erected to allow them to complete this to first-floor level.
The roof timbers in the Tom Leonard gallery are now complete, along with the floor joists.
Next week the roof trusses for the main roof will arrive and first-floor blockwork will be laid.
In other news, Fr Adam Gaunt, Chair of the mining museum's Board of Trustees, came on site and after a brief (10 second) training course from Luke and Simon, Fr Adam laid his first-ever brick!
