Cleveland Ironstone Mining Museum is delighted to offer a Family History service. The museum holds numerous documents, books, photographs, accident records and more, all detailing the names of miners from all across the Cleveland area. As such we receive a great number of requests for information from people who have found an ancestor listed as an ironstone miner in the census records.
We are currently developing a database to assist the public, complete with archive documents and photographs.
Meanwhile, if you think one of your ancestors may have worked in any of Cleveland's ironstone mines and you would like us to check our records, please get in touch with as much information as possible.
