This week Tolent Construction have partly removed the roof from the Tom Leonard gallery to make way for a new staircase. In the process, the southern wall of the gallery was found to be unstable and was carefully demolished.
Other sections of the walls are being assessed.
Part of the roof of the reception area has been removed to allow the western wall to be partly demolished to provide wider access for wheelchair users.
A new entrance to the mine experience has been cut into the side of the scirocco fan building.
