Nestled in the coastal village of Skinningrove, North Yorkshire, Land of Iron preserves and celebrates the area's major role in the industrial revolution as iron and steel was shipped around the globe to build bridges, railways and iconic structures that stand to this day. Journey back to a different time with the aid of photographs, mementos and objects that tell a fascinating story of the life and work of the miners and their families. The interactive exhibition is designed with every age in mind. Access to our exhibition normally costs £6 but on Saturday 13th September and Saturday 20th September, visitors will be able to visit Land of Iron free of charge and without booking. Guided tours of the mining areas are not included.
