Following the opening of the new museum building and the North Drift experience, Land of Iron is now looking to the future, and is seeking to recruit new board members to join us for this exciting next phase of the museum’s journey.
We would like people from all walks of life to share their knowledge, experience and enthusiasm with the museum team and our visitors and to help drive forward the new museum and its vision for promoting the industrial heritage of ironstone mining.
Trustees will receive plenty of support from the existing team of staff and other trustees to learn about the organisation and how you can support the museum. You don’t need any qualifications or experience, just enthusiasm and a willingness to commit your support to the team.
General duties will include:
- Participating in board meetings, discussions, and sharing ideas
- Making decisions about the strategic direction of the organisation
- Making decisions in relation to finance and governance
- Further developing and adopting the draft business plan
Board meetings are held every two months and there are also regular sub committees for HR, Finance, and Health and Safety so if you have a particular interest in these areas, you can get involved in those. Meetings are hybrid but there is an expectation that if possible, trustees try to attend at least 2 meetings a year in person. You would be very welcome to attend a trustee meeting with no obligation, so you can meet the team and see how the museum works - just get in touch!
This is a voluntary position but reasonable expenses will be reimbursed.
Our AGM will take place at Land of Iron on 19th July 2024 so please do get in touch before then if you would like to have a look around the museum and attend the meeting to see how we work.
