Family History requests have now reached 350 with two of the latest requests coming from New Zealand and the USA.

The request from the USA was quite special as the lady was looking for information on her ancestors, the Tucker, Chapman and Nicholson families who all lived in Skinningrove and were employed in the ironstone mines and through marriage all were related.

The request was for information on her grandfather Albert Tucker who lived in Skinningrove and left with the family for the USA in 1913.

In 1911 Albert John Tucker, 32, (shot firer in mines) lived at 13 Stone Row with wife Elizabeth (Chapman) 24, children Cecil, 6, Nora, 3, and Herbert Samuel, 1. Also at the same address was Armstrong Chapman, 74, George Chapman, 22 (in laws)(filler in mines) and niece Francis Chapman, 21.

The request was followed up on June 1st when Mr and Mrs Burnette (pictured) travelled from South Carolina to visit Skinningrove where they saw their relatives' houses and met with shared relatives still living in Skinningrove.

Mrs Burnette said 'Thank you for showing us round the village where my father was born and meeting other relatives was the highlight of the visit'.
