We are delighted to be able to announce the name of our exciting new museum experience when it opens later this year will be Land of Iron.

The name continues the legacy of the National Lottery Heritage Fund and the North York Moors National Park project of the same name.

The new name better reflects the unique experience that visitors will experience when they step foot in our new museum. The exhibition will showcase the impact and significance of ironstone mining not only for the local area but for the United Kingdom.

The £2.5m expansion project has been funded by the National Lottery Heritage Fund, Coastal Communities Fund, Tees Valley Combined Authority and private donations.
