War? What is it good for? Absolutely nothing...apart from inspiring a full day of tabletop gaming right here at the museum.

North Yorkshire has been a hotbed of conflict across its long history, but today the battle finds itself on the tabletop as Land of Iron hosts its first wargaming event; War in the Land of Iron. Join Land of Iron and a cast of game runners with decades of experience under their belts for a day of hand-crafted narrative scenarios, miniatures and tables where the central theme is area in which we live and its long and storied history. Play five one-hour games throughout the day from a selection of six tables covering a variety of eras and settings both real and imagined. For £10 per adult or £5 for under 16s, you can take part in as many games during the day as you like.

The games are suitable for ages 10+ but attendance is at parent or guardian's discretion. If you think your child will enjoy the day and respect the games, they are very welcome.
