Land of Iron is taking our Mine on the Move to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the closure of Eston Mine.
Eston had the most prolific mines in Cleveland with an output of 63 million tons of ironstone during its 99 years of operation.
We want to invite everyone to Onward at the Eston & Normanby Social Club. Onward was the name given to the Eston branch of the North Yorkshire & Cleveland Ironstone Miners Association trade union.
During the day we will have performances, stalls and exhibits, refreshments, family arts activities and a chance to chat with Land of Iron staff and volunteers about ironstone mining and how we continue to preserve the legacy of our industrial heritage.
The event is free and all are welcome.
