Our first Mine on the Move!
To commemorate the 60th anniversary of the closure of North Skelton Mine and, consequently, the end of the ironstone mining era in Cleveland, we're closing the museum in Skinningrove and taking to the road for our first Mine on the Move event.
We want to invite everyone to Hope to Prosper - the name is taken from the North Skelton branch of the North Yorkshire & Cleveland Ironstone Miners Association trade union.
During the day we will have performances from Tees Components Band, Leven Sword Team, stalls and exhibits, refreshments, a video booth for you to record your memories and thoughts of North Skelton through the years, family arts activities and a chance to chat with Land of Iron staff and volunteers about ironstone mining and how we continue to preserve the legacy of our industrial heritage.
The event is free and all are welcome.
