Egypt on the Yorkshire Coast looks at the many links between the UK's largest county and the world’s greatest ancient civilisation - from the numerous Egyptian artefacts in our region's museums to the work of Egyptologists from Yorkshire and the north-east, and the fact that Yorkshire has more pyramids than any other part of the UK, the oldest obelisk in Britain and the only full-sized replica Egyptian temple in the country.

Prof. Joann Fletcher is based in the Department of Archaeology at the University of York and is patron of Scarborough's Big Ideas By the Sea festival. She is also Chair of Trustees at Scarborough Museums and Galleries, patron of Barnsley Museums & Heritage Trust and Lead Ambassador for the Egypt Exploration Society. Her BAFTA-winning television work includes the BBC series 'Immortal Egypt with Joann Fletcher' and for almost 40 years she's been researching the many connections between ancient Egypt and Yorkshire.
