Kildale is a small historic village at the foot of the Cleveland Hills in North Yorkshire, home to the nearby Victorian Warren Moor Mine ironstone site.
All of the mines in Kildale were short-lived and failed financially.
Amazingly the village boundaries of Kildale have not changed in over 900 years. Kildale is in fact an estate village, meaning that the majority of the houses and nearby farms are owned by the estate which ensures that there is a strong community feel within the village itself. The nearby Warren Moor Mine, to the south of the village, is an excellent example of the Victorian ironstone industry in the area, with its fine surviving chimney and associated building foundations and shafts. It's survival is indicative of its brief working life in the late 1800s as it was ultimately not financially viable to mine ironstone at this location.
