The Princess Mary Christmas gift box is a brass tin originally containing gifts such as chocolate and tobacco. Princess Mary started a fund to send every serving soldier and sailor a Christmas gift during the war in 1914. Local scouts collected gifts to put inside the specially-produced tins. These were embossed with her profile and also contained a Christmas card and message from the princess.
